Oklahoma Video Game Exhibition set for August

Published by hawgwyld under Cool stuff Edit This

Let’s forget about real estate for a minute and talk about something that’s nothing but fun — the 2008 Oklahoma Video Game Exhibition (OVGE) over in Tulsa.

That event, started five years ago by Jesse Hardesty, will be held on Aug. 9th at the Marriott Tulsa Southern Hills Hotel. The emphasis here is on classic video games and is an ideal event for those in Oklahoma and surrounding states wanting to trade and buy games and peripherals for their Ataris, ColecoVisions, Intellivisions, Magnavox Odyssey 2s, Nintendos, Segas and etc.

Hardesty always puts on a great event and I’ve purchased more than a few new games for my beloved Atari 2600 at the event. Yes, there are still some of us who never let go of our Ataris and there are a lot of homebrewers that still write games for that aging system (and others).

As always, vendors will be at the 2008 event to trade and sell vintage games and some for the newer systems, too. Exhibitors will be out setting up displaying their classic video game collections for those wanting to gain a further appreciation of the history of the industry. Meeting some industry insiders is a bonus, to boot.

The truly great thing of the event is that it’s really the only one of its kind serving those of us who live in the region — something those of us living in wonderful, beautiful Arkansas appreciate.

The event is a heck of a way to spend a Saturday, so turn out if and visit with some classic game enthusiasts if you’re able. Check out the OVGE Website or the o-fish-ul press release for more information.
